Postnatal Physiotherapy

Postnatal care or a postpartum is equally crucial to the pregnancy whether it was given birth to vaginally or through a caesarean. The fourth trimester, or postpartum period, continues the body changes (physical, hormonal, and emotional) as it heals and adjusts to a newborn child.

Whether it is lifting and feeding or having broken sleep patterns and getting used to your new identity, the obstacles are very real and could be very demanding. Regrettably, a lot of females are presumed to bootstrap without due guidance. Slow down, tune in, evidence-based, compassionate, prioritises your wellbeing and recovery: it sounds supportive and empowering, and that is exactly what we believe in at our clinic.

Personalised Postnatal Physiotherapy

Our intervention is targeted at recovery of pelvic floor and core strength as the basis of lifelong comfort, power and mobility. We usually treat such issues as abdominal separation (diastasis recti), weakness in the pelvic floor, urinary incontinence, pelvic or perineal discomfort, back and postural fatigue, and overall deconditioning. Such symptoms are normal- yet not something you need to live with.

The first stage of your journey will involve a careful postnatal assessment, addressing pelvic floor, testing of the abdominal muscles and screening of movements and all this performed in an open context of a conversation about your birth experience and desired goals.

Manual treatment and breathwork may form part of your unique treatment plan along with pelvic floor and core retraining and clinical Pilates as well as a slow-and-steady strategy to enable your safe and effective return to exercise. Be it that you want to carry your baby around with ease, go back to the running business or just feel like yourself, once again, we can help you gain the confidence and find the voice in your body, step by step.
